You get your hair done. You get your nails done. You get Facials. You wax. You might color your hair, or get extensions. You wear makeup. Maybe you have some permanent makeup. You do those things to look more attractive and cute, and maybe to feel better about yourself. We’re happy to help you with all of those and to help make you look as gorgeous as possible. But, are you missing some important beauty practices?
As part of your beauty activities, this is Part 1 of 4 things that you should also be doing:
- Wear sunscreen! The sun is one of the most damaging factors for your skin. We know we should use sunscreen to help prevent skin cancer. But, also important is that the sun does much to dry your skin and rob it of its elasticity. That will bring on wrinkles and creases much, much quicker. That does not fit in with your efforts to look more attractive and cute. The American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) indicates we should use sunscreen that offers broad-spectrum protection (protects against UVA and UVB rays), Sun Protection Factor (SPF) 30 or higher, and water resistance. Sunscreen that is 30 SPF protects against about 97% of the sun’s rays. Higher SPF sunscreens protect against slightly more of the sun’s rays. But, per the AAD, no sunscreen protects against 100% of the sun’s rays, and studies suggest that sunscreens with an SPF higher than 50 do not provide any more protection than an SPF50 sunscreen.
